Laurence Cairns lives near the small Village of Ballygawley, Country Tyrone, Northern Ireland and has worked in engineering for more than 35 years. Working in several different firms at a variety of different jobs.
Twenty of these years self-employed in metal fabrications, making gate hangers for field gates, chimney cages and other small items that can be sold into stores.
Laurence spends a lot of time in the workshop beside the house and has invented a lot of small gadgets to solve problems. The Cairns-Dorlifta being one of them that he invented and designed. Laurence saw the need for a door to be lifted vertical in the door frame and holding in position, while the operator can screw fix the hinges of the door to the frame.
Laurence likes to visit invention shows all over Europe like the British Invention Show London, Innovate Expo Brussels, IENA Nuremburg and the International Exhibition of Invention Geneva to gather a greater knowledge of the way other Inventors have brought their inventions to the market.
